    Product details

    Background & context

Pathfinders were volunteers who were dropped a good half hour ahead of the main body. They lugged Eureka radio beacons and signal lamps with them, set them up in the dark and held the zone until the transports were overhead. In Normandy much of that went wrong, and the formations landed widely scattered. When the Ardennes were ablaze in December 1944, Pathfinders jumped again, this time over encircled Bastogne, to guide in the supply drops for the 101st.

    On the tabletop

Pathfinders jumped up to half an hour ahead of the main force to guide the following aircraft onto the target, then fought on as infantry. In Bolt Action you field the ten figures in winter clothing as a squad of your US Airborne army. Individual figures also serve as NCOs, spotters or forward observers. This makes the squad a fit for games in the Ardennes in December 1944, and an order die is included.
