    Product details

    Background & context

John Browning designed the .50 calibre machine gun towards the end of the First World War, and it entered service as the M2 in the 1930s. In the Second World War it fired from tanks, trucks, aircraft and ships, while on the ground it stood on a heavy tripod. Its 12.7 mm rounds pierced light armour and reached far beyond ordinary machine guns. Because of its weight the weapon needed several men to carry it and its ammunition.

    On the tabletop

Set up the heavy machine gun at a crossroads or behind a wall, where it has a long field of fire over open ground. With four men the group shows a fully crewed weapon, and you can place the ammunition bearer a little apart on his way forward. In Bolt Action you field it as the heavy machine gun of your American force. The crew suits North Africa, Italy and France as well as the Pacific islands.
