The Type 7 Sasori is the evolution of the proven Type 6, featuring an extended chassis, front-mounted grappling claws, and an articulated rear boom for the Type-61 light cannon. The striking resemblance to a scorpion gave the walker its name - and it lives up to this designation on the battlefield.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The success of the Type 6 with its Light Shiboru Cannon paved the way for the Type 7 Sasori. The extended chassis significantly improves conditions for the crew, while the front-mounted grappling claws are used both in dense undergrowth and in close combat against infantry and light vehicles. The articulated rear outrigger gives the gunner considerably more control when aiming the Type 61 light cannon. The unmistakable resemblance to a scorpion - reinforced by the characteristic tail stinger - led to the nickname Sasori, Japanese for scorpion, becoming its official designation.
