    Background & context

    Japan brauchte spätestens 1942 mobile Artillerie und Panzerabwehr, hatte aber kaum Kapazität für neue Fahrgestelle. Also setzte man das vorhandene 75-mm-Feldgeschütz in einen offenen Kasten auf den Chi-Ha und war fertig. Die spätere Ausführung bekam einen ringsum geschlossenen Aufbau, blieb aber selten. Die meisten dieser Fahrzeuge wurden auf den Heimatinseln zurückgehalten, um dort die erwartete alliierte Landung abzuwehren, zu der es nie kam.

    On the tabletop

    The Type 3 Ho-Ni mounts a 75 mm gun in a box on the Chi-Ha chassis, armoured at the front and sides but open at the top and rear. In Bolt Action it counts as a light tank with a forward-firing medium anti-tank gun and is made for ambushes: fire, pull back and draw the enemy onto your other guns. Because the crew sits exposed, keep it away from enemy infantry. Most vehicles were held back on the home islands to oppose an Allied landing.
