Product details

Background & context

Troughs for feed and water belonged to every farm that kept horses, cattle or pigs. Water was a constant concern for armies, as Napoleonic cavalry and artillery needed large quantities every day for their horses. In the Second World War, too, much of the German and Soviet forces still relied on horses to pull guns and supplies.

On the tabletop

Spread the three troughs across yard, paddock and stable front so the ground between the buildings does not look bare. As decoration they hardly affect play and can be moved quickly when needed. Next to a well or in front of a barn they form a watering place for horses. They also fit a field camp with cavalry or horse-drawn wagons.
