Product details

Background & context

Earthen walls on a rubble stone base, capped with roof tiles, shaped the look of Japanese towns in the Sengoku and Edo periods. They enclosed temples, noble seats and the residences of samurai, who lived in their own quarters around the castle. A single gate controlled access and was often manned by guards. Behind the walls lay houses, storehouses and small gardens.

On the tabletop

The walls enclose a yard where you place a house, a garden or a shrine for your opponent to take. The sliding gate is the only way in, so attackers bunch up in front of it while defenders have cover behind the wall. A second set lets you run the wall around all four sides. The extension and the ruins from the Toshi range fit directly on.
