    Background & context

    Die Besatzungen nannten ihn Suka, und liebevoll war das nicht gemeint: dünne Wände, oben offen, jeder Splitter fand hinein. Dafür war er leicht, kam durch Schlamm, in dem schwerere Fahrzeuge steckenblieben, und rollte in solchen Stückzahlen vom Band, dass fast jede Schützendivision eigene Batterien bekam. Die ZiS-3 im Aufbau war dieselbe Kanone, die anderswo als Divisionsgeschütz am Haken hing. Gegen Panther und Tiger half das nichts, gegen alles andere reichte es.

    On the tabletop

    On this SU-76M the open fighting compartment is covered with a stretched tarpaulin. The superstructure holds the same 76.2 mm ZiS-3 that was otherwise towed as a divisional gun. In Bolt Action you can equip the vehicle to fire either as a howitzer or as a medium anti-tank gun. That lets it support your infantry against positions and light or medium tanks, while you are better off avoiding heavier types like the Panther. It can also be used in Achtung Panzer! games.
