    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The StuG III was developed as an armored infantry support vehicle. The Ausf. D carried the short-barreled 7.5cm StuK 37 L/24, which was primarily intended for use against emplacements and soft targets. Early StuG variants were operated by the artillery, not by the panzer troops. Its low silhouette made the vehicle difficult to spot and offered tactical advantages.
