Product details

Background & context

From 1937 the Opel Blitz was the Wehrmacht's standard three-ton truck and was built in very large numbers. Its chassis carried special bodies for almost every task, among them ambulances, fuel tankers and radio vehicles. When mud and snow on the Eastern Front left wheels stuck, the rear axle was swapped for a tracked unit, and the result was called the Maultier. These vehicles served from the invasion of Poland to the final battles inside Germany.

On the tabletop

These three trucks give your German Bolt Action army its own supply train. The radio truck acts as a mobile command post, the ambulance brings back the wounded, and rules for using it as a field ambulance appear in the theatre book Battleground Europe. The fuel bowser works best as an objective. Together they form a convoy for scenarios where partisans ambush a column or your troops fall back carrying vital supplies. Between games the three vehicles make good scenery along a roadside or at a depot.
