When anti-tank weapons were lacking in 1941, the Red Army simply bolted a ZiS-2 onto a Komsomolets tractor. That very stopgap comes to your table here as a resin and metal kit, complete with a three-man crew.

Background & context

In the summer of 1941 the Red Army was losing its anti-tank guns faster than it could field new ones. The answer was an improvisation: the light artillery tractor Komsomolets was taken and the 57 mm ZiS-2 mounted in the open on its rear. A good hundred vehicles were built this way and went to the Western and Southern Fronts from September 1941. The tractor's hull MG was retained, but there was practically no armour protection for the crew.

On the tabletop

The ZiS-30 is an open tank destroyer for Soviet lists on the early Eastern Front from September 1941: a 57 mm ZiS-2 gun mounted on the Komsomolets artillery tractor. The gun takes on German tanks and the hull machine gun deals with infantry, but the crew has almost no protection. So fire from cover and then relocate. Three crew figures, a stat card and an order die are included.
