Product details

Background & context

In the Red Army, flags were more than decoration. A regiment that lost its banner lost its identity, and units that had proved themselves carried the Guards honorific openly in their name and on the cloth. Political officers used flags deliberately to lead morale, and the banner on the Reichstag in 1945 became the best-known image of this war. On the gaming table the same effect works on a small scale.

On the tabletop

With his flag held high, this Red Army soldier makes your headquarters recognisable from afar in Bolt Action. Field him as an attendant to your officer or use him as an objective that a fight revolves around. In the Red Army flags were more than decoration: a regiment's identity was bound up with its banner, and Guards units carried their honour title on the cloth. The banner over the Reichstag in 1945 became one of the best-known images of the war.
