Product details

Background & context

Soviet infantry often faced enemy tanks with no anti-tank weapons of their own and made do with whatever could be built or captured. The Molotov cocktail, an incendiary bottle made from workshop stocks, was the simplest anti-tank weapon of the war; added to it were bundled charges and later Panzerfausts captured in huge numbers. All of this was effective only at a few metres, in cellars, rubble and ambushes. In Stalingrad, where every street was a front of its own, it became a discipline of its own.

On the tabletop

The two tank hunters in naval uniform attack enemy tanks at point-blank range with anti-tank grenades and Molotov cocktails. In Bolt Action they are a small unit of infiltrators with a strong anti-tank punch, suited to any rifle platoon that expects to face enemy vehicles. As their weapons only work over a few metres, they wait in ruins and rubble until a vehicle comes close enough. In Stalingrad in particular, Soviet soldiers often had to fight tanks without heavy weapons.
