Product details

Background & context

When the Soviet fleet was bottled up in its harbours from 1941, entire crews were sent to the front as infantry. Their officers led from conspicuously far forward and often still in naval uniform, which brought heavy losses among the leaders but also enormous cohesion in the brigades. The banners they carried were more than decoration: they marked the point where the unit stood and went back no further.

On the tabletop

Four figures form the command of a Soviet Naval Brigade in Bolt Action. The officer gives your platoon its orders and, as was usual in these units, leads from the front. The radio operator and medic complete the command group, with the medic tending the wounded. The NCO with the unit banner accompanies the officer and makes the command easy to spot on the table. Like their men, the figures wear the black naval uniform.
