    Product details

    Background & context

Stalin called artillery the god of war, and the Red Army meant it literally: gun and rocket batteries in a density that no other army of the war could muster. Then there was the IL-2, a ground-attack aircraft built solely for low-level attack. Both were of use only if somebody lay well forward and brought the fire down on the right target. That role fell to the Forward Observer, whose most dangerous equipment consisted of binoculars and a radio.

    On the tabletop

An observer with binoculars and a radio operator direct Soviet artillery fire or air strikes onto your targets in Bolt Action. The Red Army had gun and rocket batteries in huge numbers and, in the IL-2, an aircraft built purely for low-level attack. The team in naval uniform gives any rifle platoon of your Naval Brigade access to this firepower. Place it with a good view over the battlefield.
