Product details

Background & context

Several thousand of the American M3A1 scout cars went to the Red Army under Lend-Lease, more than to any other recipient. For reconnaissance they were really too loud and open-topped, so they found another role: as staff and command vehicles for corps and army headquarters, as tractors for light guns, as ambulances with the mechanised formations. In pictures from the last years of the war there is therefore often more radio equipment than crew in the body.

On the tabletop

Three pewter figures crew an M3A1 Scout Car in Soviet service: a driver at the wheel and two men in the open fighting compartment. The Red Army received these American scout cars in large numbers and often used them as command vehicles, as tractors for light guns or for carrying wounded. With its crew aboard, the car looks in service on your table, for example as a staff vehicle. The vehicle model itself is needed separately.
