    Background & context

    Die Rote Armee rüstete ihre Leute für den Winter konsequenter aus als jeder Gegner: wattierte Telogreika, Uschanka mit Ohrenklappen, Walenki aus gepresstem Filz. Wer so ausgestattet war, hielt bei zwanzig Grad minus stundenlang draußen durch. Genau darauf setzte die sowjetische Führung im Winter 1941 vor Moskau. Auf der anderen Seite froren deutsche Verbände in Sommeruniformen fest.

    On the tabletop

    Wearing telogreika jackets, ushanka caps and felt boots, these three Red Army men move steadily forward with weapons ready. In the snow you can field them as a patrol ahead of your main force or as pickets on a road the enemy wants to use. Because the Red Army equipped its soldiers with warm clothing early on, they already suit the fighting before Moscow in 1941 and every later winter on the Eastern Front. Three 25 mm round bases are included.
