Description

A Red Army anti-tank rifle team as a 3D-printed kit from Rubicon. The extra-long barrel is recognisable at once on the table and belongs in any Soviet list that wants something to set against German half-tracks.

Background & context

Soviet anti-tank rifles came into being within a few weeks in the summer of 1941, simply because there were not enough anti-tank guns. The single-shot PTRD and the semi-automatic PTRS then went out to the rifle regiments in their hundreds of thousands. Against frontal armour the 14.5mm round stood no chance from 1943, but against running gear, vision slits, half-tracks and bunker embrasures it remained useful until the end of the war, and it was cheap enough for there to be some everywhere.

On the tabletop

Two prone teams of two men each bring both Soviet anti-tank rifles to your force: the single-shot PTRD-41 and the semi-automatic PTRS-41. Their targets are half-tracks, armoured cars and lightly armoured vehicles, but from 1943 they no longer help against the front of heavy tanks. Place the teams in cover on a flank, from where they can hit running gear, vision slits and bunker embrasures. The resin figures come unpainted from the 3D printer.
