    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The BT-7 was one of the fast Soviet cavalry tanks and was built in large numbers. It was first used in early battles against Japan and later against the German invasion. With up to 44 mph on roads and more than 30 mph cross-country, the BT-7 relied on speed rather than heavy armor. Its three-man crew operated a 45 mm main gun and a coaxial machine gun, but more than 2,000 vehicles were lost in the first year on the Eastern Front.

Light tanks and scout vehicles should utilize their mobility rather than seeking prolonged frontal engagements.
