    Die ZiS-2 war 1941 so durchschlagsstark, dass die Rote Armee sie mangels lohnender Ziele wieder einstellte. Zwei Jahre später holte der Tiger sie zurück. Rohr und dreiköpfige Bedienung kommen als Metallguss in 28mm.

    Background & context

    Die 57mm ZiS-2 lief 1941 an und durchschlug jede damals bekannte deutsche Panzerung glatt - zu gut für ihren Preis, befand die Führung, und stoppte die Fertigung zugunsten der billigeren 76mm ZiS-3. Als 1943 Tiger und Panther an der Ostfront auftauchten, war der Fehler offensichtlich. Ab Juni 1943 stand die ZiS-2 wieder in Produktion und blieb bis Kriegsende die stärkste leichte Panzerabwehrkanone der Roten Armee.

    On the tabletop

    When Tigers and Panthers appeared on the Eastern Front, the ZiS-2 went back into production from June 1943. That makes it the anti-tank gun of your Soviet force for games set in the later war years. Give it a long, clear line of fire so it can engage approaching vehicles early, and keep infantry nearby to shield it from assaults. Gun and three metal crew stand together on the oval MDF base.
