    Razvedka, die Aufklärung, war bei der Roten Armee eine eigene Disziplin mit eigenen Leuten. Spähtrupps krochen nachts durch das Niemandsland, um einen Gefangenen zu holen, der über die Stellungen gegenüber aussagen sollte. Vor den großen Offensiven ab 1943 hing der Ansatzpunkt ganzer Armeen an dem, was diese kleinen Trupps mitbrachten. Wer dabei auffiel, kam selten zurück.

    On the tabletop

    Seven Soviet scouts form a light reconnaissance squad for your Red Army in Bolt Action. Reconnaissance was a discipline of its own in the Soviet army: patrols crept through no man's land at night, scouted positions and brought back prisoners for interrogation. On the table you send the squad ahead of your main attack to occupy ground and find gaps in the enemy line. It suits scenarios before the great offensives from 1943 in particular.
