This metal set brings a complete Airborne squad to the table, equipped with a mix of submachine guns, rifles, and a light MG team.

    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Soviet Union was among the early pioneers of modern airborne operations, possessing the world's largest airborne force at the outbreak of the war. However, the German invasion in 1941 quickly forced the Soviet command to deploy these specialized units as regular infantry, where they were practically wiped out in the defensive battles. It was not until the winter of 1941/42 that Soviet airborne units were again used in their intended role - without achieving the desired strategic results. Despite extraordinary fighting spirit, these units suffered from a chronic lack of heavy anti-tank weaponry and insufficient support.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Soviet Airborne Troops (VDV) were, in reality, elite infantry, but were mostly used as regular riflemen - accordingly, in BA, as a Veteran Squad with an affiliation bonus through the Soviet Airborne Theatre Selector. Suitable for the Vyazma Operation 1942 or the Dnieper Jump 1943.
