Product details

Background & context

Not every minka was a large farmhouse, as many craftsmen and small traders lived in plain, narrow buildings. In the castle towns that grew up in the late Sengoku period, they lived in their own streets grouped by trade. The houses were built of wood and stood close together, so fires could destroy whole quarters. Under Tokugawa rule from 1603 these towns grew strongly.

On the tabletop

At just 140 x 130 mm, minka C fits into a narrow gap between larger buildings. Its height of 120 mm is enough to break lines of sight between two lanes. Use it as a craftsman's workshop for a group to search or as a refuge for a wounded leader. Together with minka A and B you get a quarter with houses of different sizes.
