Product details

Background & context

Alongside larger farms, Eastern European villages had many small cottages where farm labourers and poor peasant families lived, often in a single room. In the winter of 1941/42 such houses became vital for both sides, because anyone without a roof was left exposed to the cold. Individual villages were therefore fought over fiercely, and retreats were often accompanied by burning the villages down.

On the tabletop

The small cottage works well as a forward post at the edge of a village or at a fork in the road. With the roof lifted off, you can place figures inside to watch the ground in front of them. Since it takes up little space, the table keeps room for movement and open fields of fire. Use it on the Eastern Front of the Second World War as well as for Napoleon's invasion of Russia.
