Background & context

Die Duplex-Drive-Wagen trugen eine Segeltuchschürze, die von Druckluftschläuchen aufgerichtet wurde, dazu zwei Propeller am Heck. So schwammen sie vor der Küste aus den Landungsbooten und sollten die erste Welle begleiten. Vor Omaha Beach ging das im schweren Seegang schief, an den britischen und kanadischen Abschnitten kam der Großteil durch. War die Schürze erst gefallen, war der Sherman V wieder das, was er vorher war: ein M4A4 mit 75-mm-Kanone.

On the tabletop

With its flotation screen lowered, this model shows a Sherman V Duplex Drive that has made it ashore and now fights on as a normal Sherman with a 75 mm gun. In Bolt Action it suits landing scenarios from 6 June 1944, especially on the British and Canadian beaches, where most DD tanks got through. Place it right behind your first wave to support the infantry on the beach. A randomly selected metal British tank commander is included.
