Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Sherman Crocodile originated from British experience with the Churchill Crocodile and US experience with flamethrower tanks in the Pacific. The source describes about 100 Sherman Crocodile variants ordered by the US Army from the British. The flamethrower system was externally mounted, including a trailer that could be detached from the fighting compartment in an emergency. Sherman Crocodiles participated in Operation Grenade and were used in the attack on the old citadel of Jülich.

In the game, Sherman Crocodile flamethrower tanks form an armored combat unit for direct fire support and movement towards mission objectives. The tank can accompany infantry, engage enemy vehicles, and put pressure on key terrain sections. In Bolt Action / Achtung Panzer! / Chain of Command, it is a flexible component for tank or combined arms battle groups.
