Background & context

Der 8-Tonner Sd.Kfz 7 war eigentlich die Zugmaschine für schwere Geschütze, doch ab 1942 wanderte auf die umgebaute Ladefläche eine 3,7-cm-Flak 36. Über tausend dieser Selbstfahrlafetten entstanden bis 1945. Ab 1943 schützten eine gepanzerte Fahrerkabine sowie 8 Millimeter Stahl vor Kühler und Motorraum die empfindlichen Stellen. Die Fahrzeuge gingen an Flak-Einheiten von Luftwaffe und Heer, die das Geschütz genauso gern auf Bodenziele richteten.

On the tabletop

The bed of this 8-ton half-track carries a 3.7 cm Flak 36. Its main job is to protect your German force from enemy aircraft, but the gun can just as well be aimed at targets on the ground. That keeps the vehicle useful even when nothing attacks from the air. This version with the armoured driver's cab fits games set from 1943, and a stat card and damage markers are included.
