Beschreibung

The Sd.Kfz 250 "Alte" was the lighter counterpart to the Sd.Kfz 251 and accompanied German reconnaissance and command units on all fronts. This kit allows the construction of three variants: as a standard troop transporter, as an enclosed reconnaissance vehicle with a 2cm cannon, or as a platoon leader's vehicle with the rare 2.8cm Panzerbüchse 41. Crew figures with interchangeable heads in normal and winter uniforms are included.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Sd.Kfz 250 was a shortened version of the well-known Sd.Kfz 251 Hanomag and served German reconnaissance and command units on all battlefields from North Africa to the Eastern Front. The early "Alte" (old) version, with its angular superstructure, was in use from the beginning of the war and was only gradually replaced by the simplified "Neue" (new) version from 1943 onwards. In addition to the standard 250/1 troop transporter, numerous special variants were developed, including the 250/9 armored reconnaissance vehicle with a 2cm cannon and the 250/11 platoon leader's vehicle with the powerful 2.8cm Panzerbüchse 41 anti-tank rifle. The vehicle was also used by Romanian allies.

This Sd.Kfz. 250 Alte is a flexible option kit for multiple light half-track roles. As a 250/1, it supports mobile infantry, as a 250/9, it takes on reconnaissance duties, and as a 250/11, it brings light anti-tank capabilities to the table. The winter heads make the set particularly suitable for Eastern Front armies without limiting it to a single scenario.
