Background & context

The Sd.Kfz 250 was the short sister of the Hanomag: six men instead of twelve, intended for reconnaissance patrols, staffs, and radio and ammunition drivers. The early Alte version had an elaborately angled body made of many individually welded plates, expensive to manufacture, which is why the simplified Neu version followed from 1943. One example became particularly well known: for a time Rommel led his formations in North Africa from a 250, the famous Greif. Romanian units used the type too.

On the tabletop

During assembly you decide whether this small half-track becomes a 250/1 transport, a 250/9 scout with a 2 cm turret or a 250/11 with the Panzerbüchse 41 for the platoon commander. As a 250/1 it carries a scout section or your headquarters forward in Bolt Action and covers them with two MG 34s. The 250/9 scouts with its autocannon, while the 250/11 gives the platoon commander a weapon against vehicles. The crew has heads for standard or winter uniform, and the type was used by German and Romanian troops.
