Product details

Background & context

Rommel led from the front in North Africa and often did so from an armoured radio vehicle. His Sd.Kfz 250/3 bore the name Greif and had the characteristic frame aerial over the open hull, beneath which the radio operators worked. The 250/10 variant, by contrast, had a 3.7cm anti-tank gun mounted and drove at the head of the reconnaissance platoons so that the platoon commander was not defenceless at first contact with the enemy. Both roles were part of everyday life for the light half-tracks.

On the tabletop

The included figure of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel belongs in the 250/3 radio vehicle, the command vehicle from which he led in North Africa. In Bolt Action your commander can then lead from the front. Alternatively you can build a 250/1 transport for a scout section or the 250/10 with a 3.7 cm anti-tank gun, which gives the leader of a reconnaissance platoon a gun for first contact. The crew has spare heads for standard and winter uniform.
