The Sd.Kfz. 250 in its early "Alte" version was the lighter counterpart to the Sd.Kfz. 251 and accompanied German reconnaissance and Panzergrenadier units across all theaters of war. This kit allows for the construction of three tactically distinct variants - troop carrier, Rommel command vehicle, or anti-tank halftrack - and even includes a figure of the Field Marshal himself.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Sd.Kfz. 250 in its early "Alt" (old) version, with its angular armored hull, was a shortened sister vehicle to the Sd.Kfz. 251 Hanomag and transported six men, including the driver and co-driver. It was armed with two MG34 machine guns and served German reconnaissance and Panzergrenadier units on all theaters of war - from North Africa and the Eastern Front to Western Europe. The 250/3 variant gained particular renown as Erwin Rommel's personal command vehicle, which he used under the name "Greif" in North Africa. Romania also deployed the vehicle as part of its cooperation with the Wehrmacht.

The Sd.Kfz. 250 Alte is a light half-track platform for reconnaissance, command, and small troop transport. The included 250/1, 250/3, and 250/10 variants allow for transport, radio, and light anti-tank roles. With the winter heads and Rommel figure, the set can be used for both Eastern Front and Africa Korps-themed scenarios.
