Product details

Background & context

Porsche lost the competition for the Tiger in 1942 but had already built just under a hundred chassis. These became the Ferdinand, a box with 200 millimetres of frontal armour and the long 8.8cm Pak 43/2. At Kursk in 1943 the design flaw showed: without a bow MG it stood helpless against advancing infantry. The reworked vehicles were given exactly this MG and a commander's cupola and rolled to Italy and the Eastern Front as the Elefant from 1944.

On the tabletop

With its long 8.8 cm gun and thick frontal armour, the Elefant gives a German armoured platoon in Bolt Action serious hitting power against tanks. Placed in ambush, a single vehicle can lock down an entire flank. It suits games in Italy and on the Eastern Front from 1944. An order die, a stat card and the Achtung Panzer! datacard with tokens are included, and the model is built from resin and metal.
