    Die Huscarls kamen mit den dänischen Königen nach England und blieben als bezahlte Hausmacht: Berufskrieger, die Sold und Unterhalt vom Herrn bezogen und dafür jederzeit verfügbar waren. Harold Godwinson führte sie 1066 erst nach Stamford Bridge, dann in Gewaltmärschen zurück nach Süden. Bei Hastings hielten sie den Hang, bis der Schildwall aufbrach, und kämpften der Überlieferung nach um den gefallenen König weiter, als längst alles verloren war.

    On the tabletop

    Pack B brings eight more Anglo-Saxon huscarls in poses of their own for Hail Caesar and SAGA. As paid household troops they were always at their lord's disposal, even at the cost of their lives. With Harold Godwinson they fought at Stamford Bridge in 1066 and a few weeks later at Hastings, where they held the slope. In your army you place them at the point of the shield wall where a breakthrough must be forced or prevented.
