    Description

Saxon Ceorls B brings eight Saxon metal foot warriors to the tabletop. Ceorls formed the numerical bulk of many Anglo-Saxon armies and were usually more simply armed and equipped than Huscarls or Thegns. This blister pack is suitable as a core or supplementary unit for Dark Ages armies in Hail Caesar.

    Product details

    Background & context

Ceorls were free men in Anglo-Saxon society and constituted a large part of the military levy. Warlord describes them as the backbone of many Saxon forces, whose equipment and armor often lagged behind better-equipped units. As part of the Fyrd, such free farmers and warriors could be called upon for military service. During the Viking Age and up to the Norman Conquest, they formed the broad base of Anglo-Saxon battle lines.

    On the tabletop

Ceorls made up the largest part of every Anglo-Saxon army, though their equipment often lagged behind that of other troops. Pack B gives you eight more of these peasant warriors with spear and shield for Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. Use them to extend the shield wall and tie down enemy units while thegns and huscarls seek the decision. Together with pack A you have a unit without repeated poses.
