    Background & context

    Als David Stirling 1941 das L Detachment aufstellte, kam die Truppe noch per Fallschirm oder auf den Wagen der Long Range Desert Group ans Ziel. Ab 1942 fuhr sie eigene Willys-Jeeps, die in den Werkstätten hinter der Front mit Zusatztanks, Sandblechen und Vickers-K-Läufen aus Luftwaffenbeständen ausgerüstet wurden. Aus dem Transportmittel wurde damit selbst eine Waffe: Man fuhr die Strecke, schlug zu und war wieder fort, ehe Verstärkung eintraf.

    On the tabletop

    With one heavy MG facing forward and three light MGs facing back, this desert jeep is a mobile weapons position for your SAS in North Africa in Bolt Action. It brings a lot of firepower against infantry in the open but is vulnerable to fire itself. The reconnaissance special rule lets it dash in, shoot and pull back, and you may swap the light MGs for Vickers K guns. From 1942 workshops fitted the SAS jeeps with extra fuel tanks, sand channels and Vickers K guns.
