Product details

Background & context

The San Marco Marines were an elite unit of the Italian Royal Navy and embodied the amphibious assault force concept of the Fascist armed forces. Originally formed as a single battalion, they grew into a full regiment through combat operations in East Africa and the Balkans. Their operational scope ranged from coastal landings on the Dalmatian coast and Greek islands to anti-partisan warfare in Montenegro. In North Africa, the Marines ultimately gained particular recognition for their determined deployment in the Tobruk area.

On the tabletop

Nine marines of the San Marco Regiment make a squad for your Italian army in Bolt Action. As the assault troops of the Naval Landing Force they went ashore on the Dalmatian coast and Greek islands, fought partisans in Montenegro and, from 1942, sent a battalion to North Africa at Tobruk. The squad therefore suits landing scenarios as well as desert games. A decal sheet and bases are included.
