Product details

Background & context

Samurai historically began as mounted retainers of the nobility and remained an important military class later on. During the Sengoku period, mounted warriors were used for shock effect, mobility, and leadership roles. The scope of delivery clearly justifies the 'cavalry' type.

On the tabletop

Twelve plastic mounted samurai form the cavalry of your Sengoku-period Japanese army in Pike & Shotte. With the included decal sheet you mark them as riders of the Takeda clan, which built its reputation on this arm. Against foot soldiers with long spears a cavalry charge was risky, so you wait for the right moment and strike a wavering line or an open flank. A well-timed charge like that could turn a battle.
