Product details

Background & context

In the frontier regions of the colonies, such as the Mohawk Valley or the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania, raids by Loyalists and allied Iroquois were frequent during the War of Independence. Settlers and militia therefore built fortified houses, small forts and lookouts from which approaching parties could be spotted early. A timely warning often decided whether the inhabitants could still reach the safety of the palisades.

On the tabletop

A watchtower is the spot from which a camp or fort keeps an eye on the ground in front of it. Place it at a corner of your defences or beside the gate when you put together a fort from the other Skytrex kits in the range. On its own it can stand for a frontier post or a road picket. Scenarios in which a post has to be held or taken by surprise gain a clear objective with it.
