Product details

Background & context

Most settlers in the American colonies lived in the countryside in small houses with one or two rooms. In New England, timber houses with clapboard siding and a brick chimney were common, while simple log cabins stood on the frontier. During the War of Independence such farms often lay right in the fighting zone. Troops of both sides used them as quarters, lookout posts or cover.

On the tabletop

Standing alone by a road or as part of a hamlet, the building marks a fixed point that a fight can turn on. Your infantry can dig in around the house and hold it as a strongpoint. Its small size takes up little room, so it groups easily with other buildings into a farmstead. It also breaks lines of sight across open ground.
