Product details

Background & context

A palisade could be put up quickly with axes and spades from the local timber. Logs were sharpened, set close together in a trench and tamped firmly in with earth. On the inside there was often a raised firing step from which the garrison shot over the points or through loopholes. During the War of Independence both Americans and British built such walls on the frontier and around camps and depots.

On the tabletop

The straight sections decide how long the sides of your fort will be: a few pieces for a small outpost, more for a larger position. They fill the gaps between the gatehouse and the Enfilade Gun Position from Skytrex. Behind the wall your defenders stand under cover while the attacker has to advance in the open. Leave room for an entrance when you lay it out so that sallies remain possible.
