Product details

Background & context

On rectangular stockade forts the corners were a weak spot, because an attacker standing right in front of them was outside the field of fire of the walls. 18th century builders therefore liked to place projecting bastions or blockhouses at the corners, from which the walls could be covered with flanking fire. The principle applied to European fortresses as much as to the timber forts of North America during the War of Independence.

On the tabletop

The corners give your fort its shape: without them the palisade is just a straight line, with them it encloses a courtyard. Combine them with the gatehouse or the Enfilade Gun Position from Skytrex and set the layout and size to suit your scenario. From a corner your defenders can watch two sides of the fort at once. Decide before the game which corner faces the attacker.
