Product details

Background & context

Fenced fields, orchards and scattered farms shaped the landscape of the northeastern colonies. Wooden fences kept livestock in and marked out property, while stones cleared from the fields were often piled into low walls. Many actions of the War of Independence between 1775 and 1783 were fought across this kind of farmland, and at Bunker Hill in 1775 militiamen already held a rail fence. Fence lines steadied musketeers and broke up formed lines that had to climb over them.

On the tabletop

Use these fences to split open farmland into fields, pastures and yards. Your infantry can form up along a fence line, giving them a clear boundary the enemy has to cross on the way in. Place the sections beside roads and farmsteads to mark verges and property lines. As the fences are not tied to one era, you can put them on the table for other Epic Battles conflicts too.
