Product details

Background & context

Enfilade is fire that sweeps a line or a wall along its length, so it reaches far more targets than fire from the front. Eighteenth-century fortification therefore placed guns so that every stretch of the defences was covered from the flank. The forts and redoubts of the War of Independence followed the same principle, on the frontier as well as in sieges such as Yorktown in 1781.

On the tabletop

Build the position into your fort so a gun can fire along the line of the palisade. Attackers massing in front of the wall then stand in the field of fire from the side rather than facing it head on. With Skytrex Palisade Walls and Corner Units you decide the size and layout of the fort yourself. In assaults on fortified posts, it gives the defender a point the attacker will want to deal with first.
