Product details

Background & context

Most colonists lived in the countryside, in small houses of timber, fieldstone or brick depending on the region and the materials at hand. Clapboard timber houses dominated in New England, while brick buildings were also common further south. These houses lay scattered along country roads and rivers, and many actions of the War of Independence were fought among such farms.

On the tabletop

A single cottage is enough to mark a road junction or an isolated farm. Your infantry can occupy the house to hold the approach to a bridge or a road. Enemies behind it are hidden from your firing lines, and troops have to move around the building. Place it at the edge of meadows and fields so the table looks like settled country.
