    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Prussian Landwehr was established as a militia levy to bring additional forces into the field after the defeats against Napoleon. It consisted of citizens of various ages and was intended to reinforce the regular army during the Wars of Liberation. Landwehr units fought in the campaigns from 1813 to 1815 and were also present in the Waterloo Campaign. Their equipment was often simpler than that of the line infantry, reflecting the improvised nature of many units.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    As a Landwehr regiment, the set forms broad Prussian infantry blocks for Black Powder and smaller formations for Sharp Practice or Sharpe's Rifles. On the tabletop, it is suitable as an inexpensive, solid mass for securing lines, villages, and flanks. Its militia character is particularly well suited for the Wars of Liberation and Waterloo scenarios, where Prussian armies were reinforced by numerous Landwehr units.
