Product details

Background & context

After the catastrophe of 1806 Prussia was allowed to keep only a dwarf army. When Napoleon failed in Russia in 1812, the king called out the Landwehr: craftsmen, farmers, clerks and boys who were half children were called up, and more than sixty battalions were assembled. They were equipped with whatever happened to be at hand: warm coat, cap, musket, done. After a few months of fighting these men stood alongside the line infantry at Ligny and Waterloo and held their ground.

On the tabletop

With 24 Landwehr men plus a metal officer and drummer you can field a Prussian Landwehr battalion of the 1813 to 1815 campaigns for Black Powder. The Landwehr fought alongside the line regiments, right up to Ligny and Waterloo. In your brigade it holds villages and flanks while the line infantry carries the main attack. The eleven flags included let you represent several different battalions.
