Product details

Background & context

Blücher's army counted eight dragoon regiments at Waterloo, a good nine per cent of his cavalry and, alongside the cuirassiers, the heavy fist of the Prussian mounted arm. Their appearance was markedly practical: blue Litewka, grey overalls, a plain shako, in the field usually under an oilskin cover. They were armed with the curved sabre in an iron scabbard. Unlike hussars or uhlans, the dragoons carried guidons, a peculiarity that makes them instantly recognisable on the table.

On the tabletop

Twelve dragoons in Warlord Resin, including an officer and a bugler, make a Prussian regiment for the Hundred Days. Alongside the cuirassiers, the dragoons were the heavy cavalry of Blücher's army. In Black Powder you hold them back until infantry and artillery have shaken the enemy line, then charge in close order. The eight guidons included are fitting, as unlike other Prussian horsemen the dragoons carried standards into battle. A blue Litewka and grey overalls define the paint scheme.
