Hintergrund & Einordnung

In 1939, the Polish army was one of the largest armed forces in Europe, and despite limited tank and air forces, it was well-trained and motivated. When two great powers simultaneously invaded the country within a short period, the Polish army faced overwhelming tactical superiority, which it could hardly counter with conventional means. Nevertheless, infantry and cavalry units offered fierce resistance in many places, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers. The greatcoat was the typical field uniform for the transitional period in early autumn and still shapes the image of the Polish soldier of that era.

Einsatz im Spiel

A Polish infantry squad forms the backbone of any Polish campaign scenario and can be used effectively in both defensive and withdrawal battles. The mix of standard riflemen and automatic weapons allows for flexible troop deployments for various combat situations. Thematically, the unit is excellently suited for early war scenarios in which numerically inferior forces must hold their ground against superior attackers. For historically oriented tabletops, this squad credibly rounds off a Polish army.
