The Polish infantry of 1939 wore the typical greatcoat of the transitional period and fought against a double invasion from West and East with Mauser rifles. Ten metal miniatures show Polish soldiers in full field gear - sculpted by Warlord-Sculptor Wojtek with great attention to detail. Background & context

In 1939, the Polish army was one of the largest armed forces in Europe, and despite limited tank and air forces, it was well-trained and motivated. When two great powers simultaneously invaded the country within a short period, the Polish army faced overwhelming tactical superiority, which it could hardly counter with conventional means. Nevertheless, infantry and cavalry units offered fierce resistance in many places, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers. The greatcoat was the typical field uniform for the transitional period in early autumn and still shapes the image of the Polish soldier of that era.

On the tabletop

Wearing the greatcoat of September 1939, this squad forms the basic infantry of a Polish army in Bolt Action. The NCO is backed by a soldier with an automatic rifle, while eight men carry rifles. You can field the squad against the Wehrmacht in the west or against the Red Army in the east, for example in scenarios based on the counterattacks on the Bzura. Several of these squads with an officer and support weapons make a complete platoon.
