Product details

Background & context

After World War I, the Polish armed forces emerged from a society with a deeply ingrained military ethos, shaped by centuries of conflict at the borders of great European powers. The CKM wz.30 medium machine gun was structurally based on the American M1917 and fired the 7.92mm cartridge, which was widely used in the Polish army. Supplemented by 81mm mortars, a Polish platoon possessed solid organic firepower - both in the 1939 campaign and in later operations under Allied command in Italy, Normandy, and the Netherlands.

On the tabletop

Four figures for the command group, a CKM wz.30 and a medium mortar with three crew each round out your Polish list in Bolt Action. The CKM wz.30 is a Polish version of the Browning M1917, fires the same 7.92 mm round as the rifles and covers lines of approach with sustained fire. The mortar engages enemies behind cover while the command group leads your platoon. This gives your 1939 rifle squads the fire support they need.
