    Background & context

    Die 1. Polnische Selbständige Fallschirmbrigade entstand 1941 in Schottland aus Soldaten, die nach 1939 aus Polen entkommen waren. Ihr eigentliches Ziel war ein Absprung über einem Aufstand im besetzten Heimatland. Stattdessen setzte die Alliiertenführung sie im September 1944 bei Driel ein, gegenüber dem schrumpfenden britischen Brückenkopf in Arnheim. Unter Stanisław Sosabowski kämpfte sich die Brigade an den Rhein, doch für die Rettung von Market Garden kam sie zu spät.

    On the tabletop

    Ten paratroopers of the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade form a section for Market Garden in Bolt Action. In September 1944 the brigade under Stanisław Sosabowski dropped near Driel to support the shrinking British bridgehead at Arnhem. You use the section accordingly where a position has to be held against superior numbers. Together with the Polish airborne weapons teams it forms a platoon of its own.
