Background & context

Im Englischen Bürgerkrieg lebte die königliche Sache von der Reiterei. Prinz Rupert ritt bei Edgehill 1642 die Parlamentsreiter über den Haufen und dann noch kilometerweit weiter, bis das Feld hinter ihm längst verloren war. Cromwell zog daraus die Lehre und drillte seine Ironsides darauf, nach dem Durchbruch zu halten, zu sammeln und umzukehren. Bei Naseby 1645 entschied genau dieser Unterschied die Schlacht und am Ende den Krieg.

On the tabletop

In content, the tan sprue matches the grey version: harquebusiers, cuirassiers, a cornet and a mounted commander, dragoons mounted and dismounted, musketeers as commanded shot, a saker, a falconet and an ensign. The different plastic colour helps you keep two sides apart during assembly, for instance Royalists and Parliament. In 13.5 mm Pike & Shotte games you send your horse onto the flanks and rally them after the breakthrough, as Cromwell's Ironsides did at Naseby.
