Product details

Background & context

When the Wehrmacht marched in in 1939, the LT vz. 38 had just finished development and passed into German hands along with the factories. The t in the designation stands for tschechisch, meaning Czech. The crews liked the vehicle because it ran and could be repaired, and over 1,400 were built. Against ever thicker armour the 3.7 cm gun stood no chance from 1942, and production ended. The chassis, however, lived on: Marder III, Hetzer and Flakpanzer were built on it.

On the tabletop

Bolt Action treats the Panzer 38(t) as a light tank armed with a light anti-tank gun, suited to the campaigns in Poland, France and on the Eastern Front. Its low weight makes it fast, so use it for quick thrusts and reconnaissance rather than duels with better-armoured opponents. The decal sheet also lets you field it for Hungarian, Romanian or Bulgarian troops, who used it until the end of the war. Stat card and damage markers are included.
