Product details

Background & context

The Panhard 178 was created in the mid-1930s for the newly motorised cavalry formations and was unusual for its day: four-wheel drive, a second driving position for reversing and a 25mm gun in a two-man turret. In the 1940 campaign in the West it was among the few French vehicles that were technically superior to the German armoured cars. Afterwards the Wehrmacht took over the captured stock as the Panzerspähwagen P204(f), some of them on rail wheels for security patrols in the rear areas. After the liberation in 1944, French units put surviving cars back into service.

On the tabletop

The Panhard 178 is an armoured car you can field in Bolt Action for two armies: as a French cavalry scout in 1940 or as the captured Panzerspähwagen P204(f) of the Wehrmacht. Its 25 mm gun outclassed the German armoured cars of the time, and the coaxial MG deals with infantry. It drives ahead of your troops and guards the flanks. Decals, stat cards, order dice and a crew figure are included.
