Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Five Janissaries with halberds, blades lowered, represent the melee troops of an Ottoman corps in Pike & Shotte. Alongside the shot, the Janissaries always fielded men with polearms, as a reserve for close combat and as a guard around commander and standard. Send them forward once your shot have weakened the enemy line, or place them to protect your commander. In the fighting for fortresses such as Szigetvár the blade often decided matters at close quarters.
